About Us

No Festival Required began with a sheet strung between two poles, a borrowed projector, a willing art-space, and an hour’s worth of short films gathered from great local and national directors. From its original home at Modified Arts in downtown Phoenix, the No Festival Required multi-part “almost monthly” shorts series ran over 600 shorts in 50 screenings from June 2002 to December 2007, and expanded its venues across the Valley, with traveling shows in other places like the Detroit Film Center.

Feature-length documentaries, narratives, and experimental and subversive packaged shorts shows are now the main focus, programming venues as varied as  the Phoenix Art Museum and the Superstition Dairy farm!
